My albums appear empty

You should re-launch the app.
1. Double-tap the home button, and you should see a list of icons appear at the bottom of the screen.
2. Now, look for the icon of Photogene, and long tap on it, until it starts to "dance".
3. You'll now see a little red circle above it (like the underground logo). Press this circle. See attached screenshot.
